Bill Schaudt: My wife Jill and I are originally from Iowa. We moved to Sandpoint in the summer of 1977 after living for 4 years in Summit County in the Colorado Rockies. The Sandpoint area's abundant outdoor resources and mild four seasons are what originally lured us. Its people and their warm welcome are what hooked and landed us. It has been a fabulous environment for us to raise our son Andy. Between school, the wide variety of outdoor sports, and community activities we have led a busy and productive life in Bonner County. Andy received his Masters of Science degree in Human Factors Psychology at the University of Idaho in Moscow (just 120 miles South of Sandpoint). He is now married and a Transportation Safety Engineer at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute located in Blacksburg, Virginia. His primary areas of interest are in replacement technology for mirrors on heavy trucks. Andy sits on the Truck and Bus Safety committee of the Transportation Research Board as the Secretary, and has multiple publications, presentations, and awards.
My twenty years experience in the marine business as sales manager of a local marina and owner of Pend Oreille Marine not only contribute to my familiarity with this region's most priceless gem, but has also provided me with the skills and contacts to make your move to our neck of the woods an enjoyable and calm passage. Besides fishing, my passion is wildlife & scenic photography. And North Idaho is a photographer's paradise. I always have the camera with me when fishing, boating, or just driving around the county. In just the past year alone I have captured on film fantastic shots of moose, eagles, ospreys, deer, great blue herons, beaver, otter, ducks, swans, pine martin, wild turkeys, and hawks. The scenic opportunities of panoramic mountain and lake photos abound. We have some of the most spectacular sunsets you will ever see. Every where you look is a photo op! I am no stranger to the ski slopes, either. I have been a skier for over thirty years. There is nothing quite like spending the winter months skiing Schweitzer Mountain or snowmobiling in the mountains and gazing down on your summer playground Lake Pend Oreille, and the rest of the year boating and fishing on the lake looking up at your awesome winter playground.
